There are various ways to categorize steel pipe, which can be divided into welded steel pipe and seamless steel pipe from the perspective of processing and manufacturing. This paper takes the planning and scheduling problems in the production of seamless steel pipe as the research object. As the production planning and scheduling of seamless steel pipe is closely related to its production process, therefore, familiar with its production process can facilitate the accurate implementation of production planning and scheduling.
Seamless steel pipe production process usually consists of hot deformation treatment and cold treatment. Hot deformation treatment is the billet in high temperature conditions continue to process the formation of the tube, the equipment used includes piercing machine, continuous casting machine and tension reduction machine.
Cold treatment process, also known as finishing process, refers to the process of processing of the blank tube into a finished steel pipe under normal conditions, the process includes cooling, straightening, cutting, flaw detection and so on.
There are many kinds of processing methods for seamless steel pipe, which are divided into hot rolling, cold rolling and cold drawing, but most customer orders require hot rolling process. The hot rolling process of seamless steel pipe is shown in Fig. 1, which passes through billet cutting (bending), heating furnace heating, solid billet piercing, extension machine rolling thinning the pipe wall, hot rolling process, heating furnace heating again, finishing rolling process, and finally processed into finished seamless steel pipe.
